Sustainability Assessment Symposium 2010
Registration for the Sustainability Assessment Symposium 2010: Towards Strategic Assessment for Sustainability is now open! SAS2010 will take place at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle on 25-26 May 2010, with pre-conference training courses available on 24 May. Further information is provided in the attached flyer and on our website (www.integral-sustainability.net). Please feel free to distribute the flyer through your networks.
SAS2010 will build up the successful SAS2008 (see http://integral-sustainability.net/about/symposium-update/ for the Symposium proceedings) which was attended by over 90 sustainability assessment practitioners representing a range of sectors and industries.
Our focus this year will be on strategic approaches to sustainability assessment, reflecting trends in the Western Australian and Australian regulatory environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes towards strategic assessment. SAS2010 will feature invited Australian and international speakers who will review and compare national experience and case examples of sustainability assessment. It will also provide a forum for all practitioners to exchange views and information on approaches and applications for assessing the sustainability of policies, plans and projects.
We are now formally calling for abstracts from anyone interested in presenting at the Symposium. We invite papers on any aspect of sustainability assessment theory and practice, particularly:
- Strategic sustainability assessment
- Land use planning and sustainability assessment
- Local government applications of sustainability assessment
- Tools and techniques for sustainability assessment
- Sustainability assessment for infrastructure planning
- Regional sustainability planning
Programme planning for SAS2010 is well underway and a number of prominent experts will make keynote presentations at the event, including a number of international and interstate speakers. Further details will be posted on the Integral Sustainability website as they become available. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
