Postdoctoral Fellow - Social Science

The Position:
CSIRO’s Earth Science and Resource Engineering Business Unit (CESRE) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow who is highly motivated to conduct applied research on environmental issues, including but not limited to Australia’s energy landscape and the challenges Australia is facing around competing land use issues. You will  contribute to the social research program around understanding public perceptions to climate and energy technologies and the minerals domain.
Location:  Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies, Pullenvale, Brisbane
Salary:     $75K - $82K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Working in the Science into Society Group, the successful applicant will have a background in psychology, sociology, behavioural economics, or some related social science discipline. In particular this person will have developed related research experience around climate mitigation and associated technologies. An interest in understanding decision making processes would also be an advantage.
 
Senior Social Scientist

The position:
Due to continued growth, the Science into Society Group at CSIRO is seeking to recruit an experienced social science researcher with quantitative skills. The Science into Society Group currently conducts research on behalf of several of CSIRO’s research Flagships on areas of strategic national importance including climate change, energy, oceans and minerals.

Salary:    $99K - $116K per annum plus up to 15.4% superannuation

Applicants must have completed a PhD and a demonstrated ability to manage a range of research projects on time and to budget. To be considered for one of these roles applicants need a background in a social science related field, advanced quantitative research skills, statistical analysis, and highly developed written and verbal communication skills. There is a particular focus on the energy domain for this position so an interest and experience in localised energy systems, behaviour change and decision making would also be an advantage. We are hoping the successful applicant would enjoy the opportunity to mentor the research skills of other research scientists within the group.
