What is the regional economic outlook for your region? How can local businesses improve productivity in this changing environment? Explore these issues and more at the Berri Regional Outlook conference on Wednesday 16 May.
Hosted by ABARES, the conference features speakers across four sessions on 'global economy – local impacts’, 'towards a more productive agriculture', 'operating in a changing environment' and a closing panel discussion ‘future of farming in the region'.
Speakers include:
• Jammie Penm, from ABARES, on National and international issues affecting the region
• Rudy Boeff, of Rural Bank, on A banker’s perspective on rural finances
• Sheridan Alm from Yatco Viticulture on Irrigation in a changing landscape
• Ben Haslett of Woolenook Fruits with a topic of Horticulture, adaptation and opportunity
• Caroline Gunning-Trant , ABARES discussing the outlook for wine and winegrapes
• Andrew Watson of the Bureau of Meteorology presenting Weather and climate - looking forward, looking back
• Krysteen McElroy of MacKillop Farm Management Group on Water efficient and weather ready crops, farms and farmers
• Fiona Crawford from ABARES with the commodity outlook and farm performance
A closing panel discussion will explore the future of farming in the region, featuring:
